Do you find yourself seeking new and exciting opportunities? If so, this is the tab for you!! Take a look at some of the opportunities being offered in our area:

Prairie Winds is a fantastic opportunity for students to develop in a fun and welcoming environment while working with our KU faculty and special guests.  It is open to all band students in grades 9-12.  I’m contacting many of the band directors in the region to let them know that this is not just for all-staters or for students who are planning on attending KU.  We’d like this to be a unique experience that can will enable students to have an impact on their own programs.

Students will participate in the Prairie Winds Festival Band, perform in like-instrument ensembles, work with our applied lesson faculty and conductors, and participate in a clinic with our guest artists, PROJECT Trio.  We will also be joined by conductor (and KU graduate) Nayoa Takizawa from Senzoku Gakuen College of Music, one of the leading music programs in Japan.  After two full days of music-making and clinics, the festival concludes on Saturday evening with a concert featuring the Crossroads Wind Symphony, KU Wind Ensemble, and the Prairie Winds Festival Band. Students who wish to audition for the KU School of Music are able to audition that weekend as well.

RETURNING FOR THE SECOND YEAR - The Prairie Winds Band Director Symposium!Interested directors are welcome to join us for a one day workshop on Saturday, February 8, to sharpen their skills and network with other colleagues.  Participation is free if you have four or more students who participate in the PW Festival and $35 for all others.
